One to a Hundred in under Six Months!

A local partnership that helps young people get into employment has just placed its 100th Apprentice in less than six months.

Reece Heeley is the 100th Apprentice to come through the Apprenticeship Training Service - a partnership between City of Wolverhampton College and Wolverhampton Civic Halls - since it first started placing Apprentices in October 2010.

Reece, who has just taken up his role as a Live Events Apprentice at the Civic Halls said: “I’m excited about the Apprenticeship and hoping to gain the skills and general knowledge to help me become someone who can do events and promotions in the future – working with companies like the Civic Halls. The Apprenticeship will help me do that because it provides loads of training which will help me gain the skills I’ll need for the future.’

The ATS acts as an intermediary to bring together everyone involved in a successful Apprenticeship, and thus streamline the whole process.

Familiar with the ins and outs of the creative and cultural sector, they are ideally placed to overcome administrative bureaucracy and can even employ the Apprentice vicariously, easing pressure on companies facing an uncertain future or contending with a recruitment freeze.

For this Apprenticeship, they brought together Wolverhampton Civic Halls and the City of Wolverhampton College (a Skills Academy Founder College) as part of their ongoing commitment to ensuring Further Education is meeting the needs of industry.

Apprenticeships are already being introduced right across the creative and cultural sector, in fields ranging from theatre and live events to design, jewellery and administration.
