Students Have Strip Torn off for Charity
Students from City of Wolverhampton College will be rolling up their trouser legs on Wednesday 30 November as they have a strip torn off for charity.
Students from the college’s Princes Trust Programme will be joining firefighters from Green Watch to have their legs waxed as part of their charity fundraiser.
The group of 17 students, who are all aged between 16 and 25 have organised the event to fund their two community projects next month.
Over a period of two weeks the team will be working hard to spruce up Birchills & North Walsall Children’s Centre, painting and decorating the nursery and tidying up the garden, as well as revamping a women’s shelter in the town.
Team Leader Jane Littlehales said: “This is the first time we have worked out of Walsall Fire Station and we are delighted to have enlisted the help of the firefighters in raising this cash.”
The Prince’s Trust Programme is a 12-week personal development course for 16-25 year olds, both unemployed and employed that aims to help young people develop their confidence, motivation and skills.
For the community project element of the course the students are asked to give their time and energy to an activity that would have a long lasting impact on the local community.
