Exciting New Construction Course is Launched

Young people hoping to work in the construction industry can get their first step on the ladder thanks to a new course being launched at City of Wolverhampton College.

The Access to Apprenticeships course in Construction Maintenance kicks off in January, giving 20 students the chance to learn all the skills necessary to find a job in a trade.

The lucky students will have the chance to try their hand at brickwork, carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, plastering and tiling before choosing an area to specialise in.

Employer Engagement Manager Jamie Holland said: “We have developed this course after listening to Housing Associations and property maintenance companies, who said they needed more young people with the right skills for the job.

“The skills these students learn will enable them to work in domestic and commercial premises, to given specifications, and will open the door to a wide range of job opportunities.”

Interested applicants need to ring 01902 821110 before 3 January 2012.
