Sport Recreation and Allied Occupations
This qualification provides students with a basic grounding in sport and recreation, which they can apply to the industry. It contains the under pinning knowledge and skills students need to learn to progress onto further qualifications.
Course Details
This qualification will be suitable for you if you work in a sport and leisure facility and provide services such as setting up, taking down equipment, and maintaining equipment, cleaning and tidying, customer service activities, life-guarding and plant operation.
The units covered by this qualification are:

- Lead Activities Within a Session
- Help Provide Equipment for Activities
- Help Maintain Facility Areas Maintain
- Good Working Relationships
- Deal With Accidents and Emergencies
Entry requirements
The candidate should be working in the leisure industry.
While there are no formal entry requirements a good standard of literacy is required.
Assessment
To achieve the full award candidates must complete all units. Like all NVQs, this qualification is competency based. This means that it is linked to the candidates ability to competently perform a range of tasks in the workplace. Candidates plan a programme of development with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate they are knowledgeable and competent in their role.
