Gym Instruction, Exercise To Music, Circuit Training and
Teaching Exercise & Fitness- NVQ Level 2
This programme is aimed at individuals wishing to become a fitness instructor in their chosen discipline, either, adult gym instruction, Exercise to Music and Circuit training.
Course Details
The OCR Teaching Exercise & Fitness is unit based.This structure provides flexibility for delivery, assessment and certification. Candidates are required to achieve all four units in order to achieve the full award. There are three mandatory units and one optional unit of your choice.
The three mandatory units recognize the generic knowledge and skills needed for those working in the Fitness industry.The fourth optional unit is specific to an Exercise & Fitness context. The choice of you option determines the context in which the qualification is awarded.
The programme can be achieved in 3 different Exercise & Fitness contexts.
Mandatory Units:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Promoting healthy living
- Knowledge in the exercise and fitness environment
Optional Units:
- Plan to teach Exercise to music
- Plan to teach Adult gym instruction
- Plan to teach Circuits
Assessment
To achieve the full award candidates must complete both mandatory and optional units.
Like all NVQs, this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks in the workplace. Candidates plan a programme of development with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate they are knowledgeable and competent in their work role.
Entry requirements
The programme is for those who are new to teaching Exercise & Fitness. It is aimed at candidates 18 years and over.Whilst candidates younger than 18 are not excluded from entering this programme, it is likely they will experience difficulty in obtaining the personal liability insurance cover needed to work in the industry.
