Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise - NVQ Level 3
This qualification is for advanced instructors whose primary purpose is to develop and complement programmes, which bring about improvements in client's physical fitness and general health. It is aimed at advanced instructors who are capable of planning, delivering and evaluating physical activity programmes independently and without direct supervision.
Course Details
Mandatory Units:
- Collect and analyse information to plan a progressive physical activity
- Plan, review and adapt a progressive physical activity programmeProvide motivation and support to clients
- Apply the principles of nutrition and weight management
- A318 Manage, evaluate and improve own learning
Additional Units:
- Plan and deliver personal training
- Plan, market and sell services
Entry Requirements:
- The candidate should be working in the leisure industry.
- All applicants must have a good standard of literacy and Level 2 Exercise and Fitnss in the context of Gym or Studio, or the ability to demonstrate Level 2 Anatomy or Physiology.
Assessment
To achieve the full award candidates must complete both mandatory and optional units.
Like all NVQs, this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks in the workplace. Candidates plan a programme of development with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate they are knowledgeable and competent in their work role.
