Community student Sasha Nyagota
Forty-two-year-old Sasha Nyagota is studying functional skills in English and maths at one of the college’s community locations within a school, to help her achieve her ambition of becoming a nurse.
She said: “I thought I should improve my literacy and numeracy before thinking about nursing, as it would help me understand the course better.
“The course has been very interesting and the tutors have been very patient. My new skills have already come in useful as I can now help my children with their homework instead of going to their teachers.
“I enjoy studying out at a community location because it means my children are nearby and it fits in with their school hours.”
