Access to HE student Aimee Bristow
Studying for a teaching assistant qualification at the college inspired 32-year-old Aimee Bristow to become a teacher but she lacked the necessary qualifications to apply to university.
Having signed-up for a one-year Access to HE (education pathway) course, Aimee has now been offered a place to study for a BSc in British Sign Language and Inclusion at the University of Wolverhampton, after which she intends to complete a PGCE and become a qualified teacher.
Aimee said “I’m so glad I’m doing the course as what I’m learning will really help me when I’m studying for my degree.
“I never thought I’d get this far but going back to studying has made me realise that you can achieve whatever you want to do if you put your mind to it. I’ll be the first person in my family to go to university and I’m very proud of myself.”
