Apprentice Chris Lait
Footballer Chris Lait scored an apprenticeship to ensure he has a back up career plan.
The 23-year-old, who plays for Stourbridge FC, said: “I have been playing football since I was young – my first team was at Birmingham City when I was seven.
“I would love to pursue a career in football but I needed to be realistic and give myself a fall back option. I decided to do an electrical apprenticeship as I wanted to make sure I had a trade behind me.
“It’s fitted around my football really well, and both the college and my employer are aware of my commitments.
“Apprenticeships are good because you get paid and gain work experience as well as your qualifications.
“They are a great start to a career and are a pathway to a lot of different opportunities.”
