Former Apprentice Sophie Beattie
A former apprentice from City of Wolverhampton College is celebrating after being named Midlands Hairdresser of the Year alongside Royston Blythe co-owner Nick Malenko.
Sophie Beattie, who is now an artistic director, was a hairdressing apprentice at the college 15 years ago.
The 31-year-old said: “Winning Midlands Hairdresser of the Year was the best thing that has ever happened to me in my career. I was over the moon and really proud.
“Being an apprentice was a great experience as you need to work in a salon to gain an insight in what working life will be like. The salon is where the magic happens!
“I had a really good teacher when I was an apprentice and I loved it. When I went into college to do my theory I got a different feel for clients due to the different clientele.”
