Apprentices – The Coach House

Allyson Clewlow, co-owner of The Coach House in Wolverhampton, has been working with City of Wolverhampton College for over a decade, and takes on an Apprentice every three years.

She said: “I myself went to the college years ago so working with the college has been a natural progression and I have a good relationship with the tutors and assessor.

“We couldn’t function without apprentices because of the nature of the job. We have different levels of staff so the apprentice fills the lower grade position and works their way up to junior stylist.

“In this industry, you learn best by working on the job and gaining first-hand experience. The biggest benefit of having an apprentice is that we take on someone who is completely fresh and can train them to our standards and we don’t get anyone with bad habits.”
