Bakery student Georgina Silvester
Four weeks in to the full-time Level 2 certificate in professional bakery skills, all is going well for 16-year-old Georgina Silvester who is pleased she chose to study at college rather than staying on at school to do her A Levels.
Georgina said: “I’m definitely doing better here than if I’d gone into Sixth Form because the course is very focussed and I’m interested in what I’m studying – and when you’re interested you learn better.
“The course is a good balance between theory and practical sessions and it’s great to get to work in a proper bakery and gain experience of using lots of different equipment, as well as developing customer service skills by working in the bakery shop.
“I’ve learnt so much in just a few weeks and have definitely got more confidence too – coming to college was definitely the right decision for me!”
