Bakery student Nicole Ireson
After leaving school 18-year-old Nicole Ireson enrolled on a Level 2 professional bakery course as the first step to her dream of opening her own shop in the future.
Nicole said: “I wanted a hands-on course and my cousin, who did a cookery course here, recommended the college.
“I was really impressed with the facilities and, as well as learning baking skills, we get experience of working with real customers and how to run a business by working in the bakery shop.
“When people say they like what I’ve made it makes me feel good and is proof that I’m doing things well.
“If you want to focus on one subject I’d definitely recommend coming to college as you learn so much that you’ll be able to use in the future.”
As part of the course Nicole – who wants to open her own business in the future – took part in the Britain’s Best Loaf competition, producing a traditional white farmhouse loaf for tasting by the judges.
