Bakery student Sonya Mehmi
“I’m proud to say that I’ve worked in an Italian bakery and learnt how to make a range of traditional products,” says 19-year-old Sonya Mehmi who spent two weeks working in Pasticceria Robiglio, a popular pastry shop in the heart of Florence, during a work experience placement funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
Sonya, who studied for the Level 3 diploma in professional bakery, added: “I’ve loved baking since I was a little girl and after starting my A Levels at school I realised that sixth form wasn’t for me, so decided to pursue my passion instead.
“Without baking I don’t know where I’d be. I can’t imagine doing anything else and working in Florence has been a great experience and will look great on my CV when I’m applying for jobs in the future.”
