Bakery student Tyler Ellitts
“College is a great choice and bakery’s a great choice too,” said 16-year-old Tyler Ellitts when we caught up with him after a busy morning working in the college’s Academy bakery at the Metro One campus.
Tyler, who started studying for a Level 2 qualification in professional bakery skills in September, added: “The course is really good and we were working in the bakery from the start of the course – I’ve already made bread, rolls, doughnuts and Belgian buns, learnt how to use lots of different equipment and had experience of selling items in the bakery shop.
“I’ve only been here for five weeks but my confidence has grown already and, whereas I couldn’t really be bothered when I was at school, I really look forward to coming to college every day!”
The Level 2 in professional bakery skills is also available as a part-time course – for further details click here.
