Beauty student Chadene Dixon
Sixteen-year-old Chadene Dixon has always been interested in beauty and signed up for a Level 1 course as the first step to owning her own business in the future.
Chadene said: “I was told that this was a good college and I’d get a good qualification here so I went along to an open day at the Metro One campus to find out more. Everyone was really nice and it opened my eyes to career opportunities and what I could do once I’m qualified.
“The course covers basic make-up, manicures, pedicures, massages, and nail art and has taught me a lot. Working with real clients in the beauty salon has been good experience and learning how to communicate with them while I’m doing their treatments will really help me in the future.
“I was very quiet at school but coming here has definitely increased my confidence and I’ve come out of myself quite a bit. At first I found it quite hard to concentrate in class but the tutors encouraged me to stay focussed and now I feel I can achieve whatever I want to do. “
After completing the Level 1 course Chadene intends to enrol for the Level 2 diploma in beauty.
