Beauty student Lisa Collett

After working as a waitress for a number of years Lisa Collett decided to pursue her interest in beauty with the aim of becoming a self employed therapist in the future.

Lisa, aged 28, who is enrolled on a Level 2 beauty therapy course, said: “I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life working for someone else, so doing the course is an opportunity to get a qualification that will benefit me in the future.

“I’m really enjoying it and learning how to do manicures and pedicures, facials, make up, spray tanning and waxing.  We also provide treatments for customers in the beauty salon and their feedback improves my confidence.

“College is nothing like school – you learn in a more independent way – and I’ve been able to fit studying around my childcare.

After gaining the Level 2 qualification Lisa hopes to progress to the Level 3 course.
