Beauty student Molly Deakin

Nineteen-year-old beauty student Molly Deakin is celebrating after her skills and qualifications helped her to win a top prize in a regional round of a national skills competition and get a job at a prestigious health spa.

Molly, who has just completed the Level 3 beauty course at the college’s Metro One campus, scooped a gold award in a regional heat of the WorldSkills UK competition and has also been offered a job as a beauty therapist at Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire.

Molly said: “It feels great to be fully qualified beauty therapist at just 19 and I feel very proud to be able to say that I’m working at Ragdale Hall. The skills I learnt on the course certainly helped me to get the job – the tutors had helped us to prepare our CVs and I felt confident in the interview as a result.”

Following her success in the competition Molly could be selected to represent the college in the grand finals at the NEC in November.
