Beauty student Sasheen Morgan
Walking past the college’s Metro One campus on the way to the bus stop led to a complete career change for 24-year-old Sasheen Morgan.
Sasheen saw that the college offered beauty courses, popped in for more information, met with a tutor and enrolled on the part-time Level 2 beauty course the same day!
Sasheen said: “I’d always been interested in a beauty course but didn’t think I’d be able to do it, yet when I spoke to the tutor she made me realise that I could be successful and it inspired me to learn something new.
“Studying part-time means that I can fit it around my other commitments and the knowledge and skills I’ve gained have given me the drive to open my own business in the future. “
As part of the course Sasheen got the chance to showcase her skills in a regional round of the WorldSkills UK competition, walking away with a silver award in the Level 2 category.
She added: “To be named a winner in the competition was amazing and I can’t believe how far I’ve come in just 12 months – it doesn’t seem real!”
