Business student Elliot Rushton

After completing his AS levels at a local grammar school, 17-year-old Eliott Rushton enrolled for a BTec  Level 3 business (admin pathway) qualification at the college’s Paget Road campus.

Elliot, who wants to run his own online trading business in the future, said: “I knew that I would need a good knowledge of business and administration and, after coming to an open day, I realised that the course would give me a good grounding in both subjects and teach me skills I will need in the future.

“Studying at college is a far more relaxed way of learning than at school and the tutors are very supportive – if you’re not sure about anything or have any problems they’re always happy to help.

“And if I want to continue to study at a higher level I can progress to the two-year HND in Business at the college and then complete a one-year top-up course at the University of Wolverhampton and gain a BA in Business Management – it means I’ll come out of university with a degree at the same as my school friends but with much less debt!”
