Professional cookery student Joel Tumbo
Cookery runs in 29-year-old Joel Tumbo’s family- his father and brother are both chefs and he’s set to follow them in the industry after signing up for the Level 2 diploma in professional cookery.
Joel said: “The course teaches you the basics of how to follow a recipe and prepare a range of different dishes, as well as different cutting techniques and how to use a range of equipment in the kitchen.
“Cooking for customers in the restaurant is a great experience and it feels great when you get good comments from them about the food you have prepared.
“It’s been a challenge coming back to college after so many years away from studying but the tutors have been very supportive and I’m improving every day – I’m really pleased I came here!
