Professional cookery student Kiran Sheema
Sixteen-year-old Kiran Sheema enjoyed cookery lessons at school and so, after completing his GCSEs, enrolled on the Level 2 diploma in professional cookery.
Kiran said: “College gives you more independence than school and as a result my confidence has improved. Everyone on the course helps each other out and I’ve made some good friends – I’m really glad I came here!
“Preparing food in the Academy restaurant is good experience as it’s like working in a busy kitchen and we learn how to cope under pressure – and when customers say your food is good it’s a great feeling!
