Construction apprentice Matthew Hill
Matthew Hill started at the college on a Level 1 construction course, but was delighted to discover the college had arranged for him to have an interview for an apprenticeship.
The 16-year-old, who is now an apprentice bricklayer, said: “I was really happy to get the job and the apprenticeship has been great. I’m getting experience on an actual site doing brick laying and labouring and extending my learning outside the classroom. I come into college one day a week and it has been fun combining the two.
“The tutors have been a great help and I can’t fault them. I can’t believe I have got a job so quickly, and without the college it would never have happened.”
