Early Years student Hannah Parker
For 18-year-old Hannah Parker, a holiday to Lanzarote sparked an interest in working as a children’s rep – and she enrolled for an early years diploma to give her the qualifications she would need.
Hannah said: “I spoke to the children’s reps on holiday and they advised me to do a Level 2 early years qualification which I did – and I’m now in the first year of the two-year Level 3 diploma.
“As part of the course I’ve done work experience placements in a nursery and as I’ve learnt more I’ve felt confident to suggest ideas and contribute to the days’ activities, all of which were noticed by the staff I was working with.
“The experience at college has been amazing – by focussing on a subject that you’re interested in makes learning easier and everything is geared around developing the skills you need for your future career.”
