Early Years student Shania Mohammed

Shania Mohammed - early years students

In just three years 19-year-old Shania Mohammed has progressed from a Level 1 diploma in early years to being offered a place at university to train as a children’s nurse.

Shania said: “I started at Level 1 as I wanted to learn from the beginning and it gave me a really good grounding when I to the progressed to Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

“I can really see how I’ve developed over the last three years and I’m much more confident now too. The work experience placements I’ve done as part of the courses have shown me what it will be like when I’m in a real job and how to overcome some of the barriers that I might face.

“At school you follow the same route of studying two or three subjects and then going to university or getting a job, whereas at college there are so many more options and you can still progress to university but with a wealth of experience behind you.

“It’s such an accomplishment to have been offered a place at university and that’s inspired me to work even harder and get the grades I need as I’m so close to achieving my dream.”
