Early Years student Sophie Marritt

Sophie Marritt

Nineteen-year-old Sophie Marritt wants to be a teaching assistant and enrolled for the two-year Level 3 diploma in early years as the first step to her future career.

Sophie, who is in the second year of the qualification, said: “I came here as I heard that the college is good and because the course includes the opportunity to do work placements in a range of early years’ settings.

“The more placements I’ve done, the more I’ve improved and I feel much more confident in the classroom now.  Tutors and staff at the placements have given me tips on how I can improve my practice and I’ve got a much better idea of what I’ll be doing when I get a job in the future.”
