Employability – Beatrice Briody
After her youngest child had started school, thirty-four year old Beatrice Briody decided it was time to kick start her career and less than 24 hours after seeing the college’s Advice and Guidance team was enrolled on a course and attending her first class!
Beatrice, who hopes to become an accountant, visited the college on a Monday to enquire about courses, and after speaking to Advice and Guidance Worker Mark signed up for a three week course in Customer Service, starting the following day.
She said: “I left school with no qualifications and always knew that once my children had started school I would do something more with myself and better myself. I know I have a brain up there and I want to use it.
“Advice and Guidance were great and helped me get on the course the following day. I was even told about the volunteering service and went over there to sign up and gain some office experience.
“The course has given me a lot of confidence and I feel really positive. I am really enjoying studying and feel comfortable here. I would advise anyone to come because I have had a fantastic experience and everyone has been really welcoming.
“I’m really proud of myself and it’s thanks to Mark and the college that I feel this proud as they have made me aware of my abilities and what I am capable of.”
