Employability – Lee Collings
After being made redundant from his job as a sales rep Lee Collings liked the job security that a career in engineering offered, and decided to enrol on the Preparation to Work in Engineering and Manufacturing Industry course offered by the college’s employability team.
He completed a three day first phase before moving onto a second five week section.
The 38-year-old said: “I was looking at getting into engineering because it is a growing industry in the Midlands, but most employers won’t look at you unless you have some sort of qualification.
“This course was recommended to me by the Job Centre and it really appealed as it was a short course and meant I could be earning money quickly.
“The course was very good and it gave you a broad spectrum of Motor Vehicle, Fabrication, Welding and Machinery.”
