Employability student Ian Lycett
Ian Lycett had been out of work for two years when he enrolled on the college’s Customer Service programme run in partnership with BHS and the JobCentre.
The 41-year-old said: “I was applying for around 10 jobs a week but not getting anywhere. I had worked in wildlife conservation in the past but was looking to go into a different area and retail seemed to have a broad range of jobs available.
“It was strange to go back into education, especially as when you are unemployed you lose a bit of confidence, but this course has helped me find my feet. It’s been a bit like group therapy as all of the class were in a similar situation to me.
“I have learnt a lot about customer service and interview techniques. The course has been really good and insightful and will definitely help me in the future.”
