Employability student Kylie Potts

Kylie Potts enrolled on a six week course run by Accord Housing in partnership with the college and the Job Centre to help her gain the skills she needed for a career in social care. The 26-year-old said: “I had been doing a lot of care work within my own family and enjoyed it so thought I would make a career out of it.

“I started applying for jobs but was never successful. The course has been a great opportunity and it’s taught me a lot of things that I wouldn’t have thought of in regards to safeguarding and equality and diversity. Now I have this qualification I can get my feet through the door.

“The course is a bit of everything and it’s been amazing. The people in the employability office have been so supportive. I have enjoyed the work experience, the tutor’s input and making new friends and have welcomed the opportunity to better myself.”
