Employability student Matt Mainey
Twenty five-year-old Matt Mainey enrolled on the college’s Customer Service programme run in partnership with BHS and the JobCentre to boost his CV and give him some work related skills.
University graduate Matt, who had been unemployed for four years, said: “I had tried various ways of getting into work but they never amounted to anything, and apart from various temporary jobs I have been unemployed since I left university.
“I decided to do this course because I didn’t have any experience when I applied for a job. It has been good getting an insight into what is expected and the course has helped me to build my confidence. I was anxious about going back into the classroom but I had nothing to worry about.
“The tutor has been brilliant. She has a lot of knowledge and the way the course is structured means it has been really easy to follow. I now have a great deal more knowledge about the retail industry.
“I would encourage anyone in the same circumstances as me to apply for the course as it can only help in the future.”
