Former beauty student Charlee Summers
In just six years 22-year-old Charlee Summers has gone from being a beauty therapy student at the college to being employed as a model co-ordinator and beauty assessor at the Metro One campus – and is well on the way to achieving her dream of becoming a fully qualified tutor.
Charlee, who came to the college aged 16, said: “After doing my Level 2 and 3 qualifications I worked in a salon for a year and then applied for the model co-ordinator post in 2012. My grandmother worked here as a tutor for 25 years and I always knew I wanted to do the same so I was delighted to get the job.
“Since then I’ve continued studying alongside working and have gone on to do my assessors’ qualification and Level 4 PETTLS course with the college and am hoping to start the Certificate in Education/PGCE course here in September which will enable me to teach.
“It’s amazing to think that only a few years ago I was a student here and very soon I’ll be a fully qualified tutor – I’m really pleased with how my career is progressing and it just goes to show that if you put your mind to something and work hard you can achieve your dream.”
