Foundation Degree in Early Years student Faye Jukes
Teaching Assistant Faye Jukes either wants to become a teacher or open her own nursery in the future so signed-up for the two-year part-time Foundation Degree in Early Years to increase her knowledge of child development and learning and extend her expertise as an early years practitioner.
Faye, aged 22, who is studying for the qualification on a part-time basis on two evenings a week, said: “The course is developing my teaching style and enabling me to identify why children behave the way they do so that I can respond in the appropriate way in the classroom. My practice is definitely improving and the pupils’ learning is being extended because of my learning.”
On completion of the course, Faye intends to do a one-year top-up course at the University of Wolverhampton to give her a BEd in Child and Family Studies. Following this she hopes to pursue either a PGCE and gain qualified teacher status.
