GAP student Shaun Pursall
After being home-schooled since the age of eight, 17-year-old Shaun Pursall joined the college’s Get Ahead Programme (GAP) to take the first steps towards gaining the qualifications he needs to do an animal care course in the future.
Shaun said: “When I first started at college I didn’t have any confidence or feel comfortable talking to anyone but the course has really brought me out of my shell. It’s a comfortable environment in which to learn and the tutors have been really helpful.
“My dad can see that it’s made a difference and that my confidence and communication skills have got better – I’m really pleased I came here.”
Shaun now plans to join a 12-week Prince’s Trust Team programme before going on to gain the English and maths qualifications he will need to enrol for an animal care course.
