Hair student Alice Hogarth
Nineteen-year-old Alice Hogarth has always been artistic and her interest in styling her own hair grew into something she wanted to make a career of.
Alice initially signed up for the Level 1 hairdressing course and, after progressing through levels 2 and 3, just three years later is a qualified hairdresser!
Alice said: “I didn’t have much confidence when I first came to college but the tutors were really supportive and working in the Academy salon gave me a real boost.
“I really enjoyed working with the customers who came in to the salon and when they went out happy with their hair it made me feel really good.”
During her final year, Alice took part in the prestigious annual Francesco Group photographic competition and beat off tough competition to come third in her category.
She added: “It felt great to represent the college in the competition and was brilliant to see the style I’d created on the big screen at the ceremony – I felt really proud of myself.
“I’ll miss college now I’ve finished the course but I’m looking forward to the future and to saying that I’m a qualified hairdresser at only 19!”
