HE student Michaela Fallon-Williams
After a ten year career in social care 34-year-old Michaela Fallon-Williams decided she wanted to do something completely different and enrolled for a two-year full-time HND in Business.
Michaela said: “I wasn’t feeling fulfilled in my job and looked at how I could transfer my skills into something new.
“The first year of the course introduces you to all different aspects of business – including European business, HR, marketing, event management and business decision making – and you look at this in more detail in the second year, as well as doing a research project.
“Before I started the course I was worried that everyone else in the class would be much younger than me but there are other students my age, and the experiences I’ve had in my working life have helped me put some of the areas we’ve studied in the classroom into context.
“It was a big decision to give up my job to go back to college but it was definitely the right thing to do as I can see that there are so many more opportunities out there.”
After completing the HND Michaela intends to do a one-year full-time top-up course at the University of Wolverhampton which will give her a full BA in Business Management, and then hopes to get a place on a graduate scheme as a business strategist.
