HE student Rachael Holmes
After gaining a Level 3 BTEC national diploma in early years, and working as an early years practitioner for five years, Rachael Holmes decided she wanted to improve her qualifications further.
Rachael, aged 27, enrolled for the Foundation Degree in Early Years which she studied on a part-time basis over two years.
Rachael said: “Employers are looking for more and more qualifications these days so I wanted to progress to the next level so that I’ll be one step ahead of the competition when I’m applying for other jobs in the future.
“The course was been hard but really worth it as it’s helped me to become a better practitioner. I’m now able to relate situations I come across at work to what I learnt at college, and I’ve also been able to pass on my knowledge to other people at work so other people have benefitted for what I learnt too.
“Combining full-time work with part-time study was hard at times but the tutors understood that we had work commitments and were extremely supportive. It feels really good to have now got this qualification – I feel really proud of myself as it’s the best I’ve ever done!”
