Health and Safety Student Mark James
After a Level 3 Health and Safety course enabled him to become a Graduate Member of IOSH, Mark James secured a job as Group SHEQ Manager at industrial suppliers FWB Products in Stoke-on-Trent. He was then was sponsored by the company to complete his Level 5 at City of Wolverhampton College.
After starting his new job, Mark began doing more volunteer work with IOSH and also became the Vice Chair of the IOSH Midlands North District; sharing his knowledge, skills and experience with other health and safety professionals who are also progressing their careers.
Mark said: “Without this qualification I wouldn’t be where I am now.
“I completed my Level 3 qualification at the college some years ago, so when it came to studying for my Level 5 the college was first choice as I know the quality of the teaching.
“The Level 5 course was really interesting and I got a lot of support and guidance. It’s enabled me to develop the company processes and procedures in an effective manner and helped to build a successful system which has now allowed us to apply for OHSAS 18001 Accreditation.”
“I’m now a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner of IOSH (CMIOSH) which is a huge milestone for me to have achieved. Part of this achievement is down to the knowledge I gained from completing my qualifications with the college.”
Ken Davies, the College’s IOSH and NEBOSH expert practitioner and consultant said: “I’m delighted Mark has made such terrific progress in his career and has been awarded Chartered status from IOSH. I wish him every success for the future.”
