After moving to Wolverhampton from Italy in 2016, 18-year-old Palak Nath has done English, maths and business qualifications at the college, and is now studying for a Level 2 diploma in health and social care.

Palak said: “I chose health and social care as I thought there would be more job opportunities available to me after I have completed my course.

“I’m really enjoying it, am learning a lot and have recently completed a 30-hour work placement at a local care home. I organised activities for the residents and helped them at meal times and, at the end of the placement, the manager offered me a part-time job there.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to take up the opportunity but I felt really happy to know that she was impressed and that I would be able to get a job at such a young age.”

As well as the health and social care qualification, Palak is continuing to improve her English and maths skill by doing a GCSE in both subjects and is considering becoming a care worker or training as a nurse in the future.
