Hospitality apprentice Elliot Zammit
Watching cooking programmes on TV and doing work experience in a pub kitchen whilst at school prompted 16-year-old Elliot Zammit to take up a hospitality apprenticeship.
Elliot said: “After doing work experience at the pub I was offered a job there but I wanted to gain a qualification as well so an apprenticeship was the ideal thing for me.
“I’m combining working in the pub kitchen with studying for my Level 2 diploma in professional cookery so get the chance to put the skills I’m developing at college into practice in the workplace.
“I’m learning something new every day and feel as though I’ve progressed a lot since I started my apprenticeship. I’ve still got a long way to go but I’m starting to think of myself as a chef now rather than just a student.”
