Hospitality student Amy Jones
Nineteen-year-old Amy Jones wants to work in a restaurant in the future and, having heard about the college, went along to an open day at the Metro One campus, saw the facilities, met the tutors, and enrolled for the Level 2 course in food and beverage service.
Amy said: “The course covers how to take orders, how to give them to the chefs in the kitchen and how to serve customers at the table – and we get the chance to practice what we learn in the Academy restaurant.
“It’s good to be able to serve real customers and talking to them has really helped my confidence – I was quite shy when I first came to college but I’m much better now.
“College is very different to school – the tutors treat you as adults and help and encourage you with anything you don’t understand. I’ve really enjoyed it and would recommend the course to anyone.”
Amy is now intending to progress to the Level 3 qualification.
