Jewellery making student Jon George
Sixty six-year-old Jon George is going for the hat trick after enrolling on the college’s jewellery making course three times!
Jon, who enjoyed the part-time course so much he couldn’t resist returning for more, said: “I did the HNC in photography and after that I thought I’m going to try and do a course every year to keep my brain active and get me out of the house. I did a number of art courses such as life drawing and ceramics before moving onto jewellery making.
“The good thing about the course is that you can do your own thing but there is someone there with the expertise should you need it. I have done different things each time and have recently been making love spoons.
“If I was sat at home I would probably just be watching the telly and not getting a lot done. When you are working with other people it encourages you and you get feedback. I enjoy the camaraderie.
“The tutor has been very informative and encouraging – the fact I am doing the course for a third time says it all really, and I might even see if I can take the course again!
