Journalism student Daniel Wilkins
Budding journalist Daniel Wilkins is freelancing for the Hereford Times after completing his NCTJ journalism course at college.
The 30-year-old said: “I was helping my dad run a pub, but was after a career change and chose journalism after several people told me I would make a good reporter.
“I looked into doing the NCTJ course at several places nationally. Not only was this the closest centre but previous students had done really well and the course was one of the best in the country.
“All the good things I had heard about the course were true and the college even helped me find work experience as they have great links with local papers.
“The HE Centre is great – I didn’t expect it to be so good. It has a kitchen and social area and is very useful. It does feel separate from the main college which is nice as you are that bit older than other students.
“I would recommend the college to anyone who wanted to become a journalist.”
