Lifeskills student Nathan Ketch
Eighteen-year-old Nathan Ketch loves working with wood with his dad and dreams of becoming a carpenter. As the first step to his future career he is studying for a Level 1 qualification in carpentry and, as part of his course, gets additional help with his maths and English skills.
Nathan said: “The course is good – I’m learning how to fit hinges to doors and how to make a T-joint, and college is helping me to improve my English and maths too. I’ve got more confidence when I speak to other people and I can read on my own now which feels good.
“The tutors are helpful and the facilities on the campus are good – I can go in the gym and have a squid card to pay for food in the cafe.”
