College marketing apprentice Courtney Bowen

“I’ve found my dream job!” says 17-year-old Courtney Bowen who has recently joined the college’s award-winning marketing team as a marketing apprentice.

Courtney, who combines working in the department with studying for a NVQ Level 2 marketing qualification, added: “I started a health and social care course at another college after leaving school but, after a few months I knew it wasn’t for me as I prefer to learn in a ‘hands-on’ way rather than sitting in a classroom.

“I’d done some work experience in the marketing department at a recruitment agency and really enjoyed it and I thought a marketing apprenticeship would be the best way to get into the field without any specific qualifications.

“When I was offered the apprenticeship it felt really good to know that I was going to start something I would enjoy and, although I’ve only been here for a few months, I’ve already learnt so much and I know that this is the start of a great career in marketing for me.”
