Motor vehicle student Natalie Shaw
After doing work experience in a garage when she was at school, 17-year-old Natalie Shaw signed up for the Level 2 diploma in motor vehicle service and repair.
Natalie said: “I’m now in my second year after completing Level 1 last year and I’ve learnt a lot about engine components and electrical systems, as well as how to service vehicles including tyre tracking and wiper repairs.
“The tutors are supportive and treat you like adults at the same time as encouraging you to be more independent which increases your confidence.
“People are often surprised when I tell them what I’m studying as it’s not a career they expect a woman to go in to, but I’m proud to be doing what I’m doing and plan to go on to do the Level 3 qualification next year.”
