Music Technology student James Hardiman

James Hardiman chose to study for his Music Technology Level 3 qualification at college because he knew the college had a good reputation for music.

The 20-year-old said: “The course is good and there is a new studio which has given us experience on up-to-date industry standard equipment. The tutors are all great and easy to talk to.

“We get to go in to the Slade Rooms for a live unit which gives you a completely new set of skills and is an experience you wouldn’t get anywhere else. We learn how to set up for a show and at the end of the year even stage our own event there.

“I plan to continue on to the new HND in Live Sound and Events at college, which is the first of its kind in the region. It’s great that the college runs qualifications at a higher level as I already know all the tutors and they already know my strengths and weaknesses.”

James hopes to become a live sound engineer.
