Pathways student Josh Pigeon

Joshua Pigeon - ALS Pathways

Nineteen-year-old Josh Pigeon wants to be a chef in the future but first needed to improve his English and maths so enrolled on a Pathways course to give him the skills he needs to move on to a catering course in the future.

Josh, who has extra support in his lessons from a member of the college’s additional learning support team, said: “My support worker helps me to stay focussed in lessons and shows me how to write notes more clearly.

“My reading and writing has definitely improved – in my exams I was able to read the questions and write the answers myself which felt good, and I can read books on my own now which is great!

“The support from the college is very good and can help you to improve your skills so that you can move on to another course in the future.
