Pathways student Phillip Tunstall

Pathwyas student Phillip Tunstall

Nineteen-year-old Phillip Tunstall wants to work in a bakery in the future and enrolled on a Pathways course to improve his maths and English skills so that he can move on to a bakery course next year.

Phillip said: “The tutors are really nice and helpful and as well as helping us to improve our maths and English they are also showing us how to look for and apply for jobs.

And as part of the course Phillip did a five-week work experience placement in the college’s Academy bakery at the Metro One campus.

He added: “I helped to wrap bread and cakes in sealed bags ready for selling in the bakery shop, and it also helped me to communicate better and work as part of a team – I loved it!”
