Former Performing Arts student Dani Tonks
Twenty six-year-old Dani Tonks is enjoying life in the spotlight after completing her Performing Arts qualification with the college.
Dani, who has worked continuously in modelling, radio presenting and acting since gaining her BTEC National in Performing Arts six years ago, recently appeared in The Twang’s new music video New Love. She has also recently finished a professional tour of Macbeth, where she played Lady Macbeth, and finished a commercial modelling shoot with Imperial Leisure for Kodak in London.
She said: “While at college I worked with the British Youth Film Academy, and it was that that really inspired me to pursue a career in acting.
“Since leaving college I have gained a slot as a presenter on my local radio station, taken part in fashion shoots for ASOS and Young Ones, worked as an acting coach and appeared in music videos!
“College helped me become a lot more professional. The lecturers were great and really encouraging – they were like friends as well as lecturers and I could relate to them. They were amazing directors and they inspired me to make and create my own work. The whole experience gave me a great platform for getting into the industry – but it is a two way street and you have to work at it! It’s important not to just focus within one field but express other avenues within the arts too to keep your creative muscle working and studying at college can offer those opportunities.”
